The Enemy Planning Almighty Autumn Tour

As The Enemy celebrated 'Streets In The Sky' going Top 10 in the UK album charts on Sunday, Tom Clarke spoke about plans for an almighty autumn tour. Having just spent the week travelling up and down England and Scotland performing gigs and record signings, Tom was not aiming to rest up any time soon. "We'll be starting work on [album] number four soon, we're not going to keep you waiting around for Enemy albums again." The Enemy will be performing at several festivals during the summer months including T In The Park and V and other various events, such as Somerset House.

The mini tour last week and album launch has seen positive feedback from reviewers (read some reviews HERE) and The Enemy are inching for a tour to visit many more places throughout the UK. Details of the locations will be revealed over the coming months but Tom promises it will be "an almighty tour in the autumn."

Tom was full of praise for fans as he spoke on his blog about the album saying it, "wasn't done with mass marketing and huge major label budgets, it wasn't done by being played on radio one every minute, it was done the old fashioned way, pure fan power." Fans will be able to watch The Enemy performing during the closing sets for the Whitehaven Festival on Sunday 3rd June 2012.

VIDEO: The Enemy Acoustic Session For The Sun

The Enemy recorded two acoustic tracks for The Sun as part of the Biz Session. Tom and Andy performed 'Saturday' and 'Gimme The Sign'. Here is The Sun article ......

THE ENEMY’s TOM CLARKE has had enough of the Olympics — even though they haven’t started yet.
He dismisses the Games as an “expensive egg and spoon race”.

Despite recently playing at the FA Cup Final, one of the nation's top sporting events, the rocker says he will avoid London at all costs during the event.

Tom, from Coventry, said: "It is the biggest waste of money during a double-dip recession that is possible to conceive.

"It's seems like an over-egged sports day, I just don't get it.

"I know the Government are going to encourage people to be proud of Britain.

"I'm proud of Britain when we look after the British taxpayer and the real people in the country.

"It's going to ruin London, if you're the British taxpayer it will cost you money.

"We're going to cut the NHS and pretty much every other public sector and put on the biggest event in the country's history probably ever, put on a sports day and a smile and say everything will be okay, when it's not."

The Olympics wasn't the only subject at the end of an ear-bashing from Tom after he and bandmate Andy Hopkins made a trip to The Sun Studios.

VIDEO - The Enemy - Saturday (Acoustic)

They performed Saturday, the first release from their third album Streets In The Sky, and later Tom expressed his sadness at Radio 1 for not playlisting it.

"I grew up listening to Radio 1 and it's a shame we've not had their support", he said.

"We're really disappointed as we love Radio 1. There is someone there at the top that doesn't like us."

Their visit to Sun HQ came three years after their big-hitting original Biz Session.

Streets In The Sky is out now but the band aren't sure how well it will sell.

Tom said: "Kind of whatever to the charts, it's full of s*** anyway.

"We took time off and we knew we were coming back into a completely different marketplace. It's the wild west at the moment, it could do anything.

"The UK music chart at the moment is who's got the biggest bank.

"We all know Simon Cowell has, if you've got X Factor TV money to put behind it, it's a bonus."

VIDEO: The Enemy - Give Me The Sign (Acoustic)

He added it's unlikely he will tune in on Sunday to see how they chart, saying: "I'm not going to get too excited, I'm just going to see what happens.

"I'll look it up on Google or wait for my mum to text me.

"I'm not sure if I can deal with listening to the rest of the s*** just to see where we chart."

He continued: "It's been a massive struggle to get here and release the album so I'm just concerned what the fans think.

"There has been so much positive feedback off the album, I was in bed the other day reading the iTunes reviews and the reaction on Twitter has been good.

"The work is done, it's time to just get out and play."

Tom sees the album as a fresh start for the band, and himself personally.

He's given up booze and despite additional nerves before going on stage, he feels great.

Tom said: "I gave alcohol up when we started the album as I wanted to be focused.

"We owe it to ourselves and the fans not to f*** the album up. I wanted a clear head so I could concentrate. I feel f****** amazing for it.

"It's the best place the band has ever been in. Everyone is getting on better than ever."

He's also flogging his fleet of posh cars and his farm.

He said: "I'm definitely selling the Porsche, if anyone wants one give me a shout. Nobody actually needs a Porsche and I don't want one anymore.

"The farm is too far out of the way, I'm not sure what possessed me to buy that."

His fresh outlook has also given Tom the opportunity to look even further ahead.

"I have a couple of ideas floating around for album No 4", he said.

"We're not going to hang about. We'll tour later this year and probably up to festival season in 2013 and then start on the album."

Streets In The Sky is out now.

Streets In The Sky Enters UK Album Chart

The Enemy stormed the UK official album chart this week with their third album 'Streets In The Sky'. The Coventry band entered the chart at number 9 , having signed to Cooking Vinyl  - the home of Reverend And The Makers and The Prodigy.

The Enemy spoke earlier saying,"we just wanted to say thanks to everyone who's bought the new record and done such an incredible job supporting us and helping put independent guitar music back in the charts."  Tom, Andy and Liam met fans during the week at album signings in Coventry, Manchester, London and Glasgow. Amazon also had 'Streets In The Sky' as their album of the week and helped increase sales as the midweek chart had The Enemy at number 4. There were twelve new entries on the official UK charts this week.

Speaking about the album chart position, Tom Clarke said, "we always knew this album would be a struggle, and to be honest we always hoped it would get in the top ten." He thanked fans for buying the album and supporting the band.

Tom Clarke Shares Thoughts On Past Week

It has been a hectic week for Tom, Andy and Liam as The Enemy launched their new album 'Streets In The Sky'. Tom Clarke has updated his official blog and shared his thoughts with fans saying,"It's been a hell of a week, Coventry shows were awesome, Manchester was my favourite crowd I've ever seen! London was better than I have EVER seen it, and Glasgow almost bought a tear to my eye hearing you all singing on the way out of the Barrowlands."

The reviews and news about 'Streets In The Sky' has been positive, with the midweek chart predicting the album would enter at #4, then news came that the album was just 3,000 copies behind the #1 spot. Tom is keeping his feet on the ground about chart predictions with these wise words, "Whatever happens in the charts tomorrow, I really don't care! If it goes to number one, the feeling won't be a patch on the feeling you all gave us over the last few days. We always knew this album would be a struggle, and to be honest we always hoped it would get in the top ten, and if it does that then frankly the way the charts are now day, I'll still be well pleased."

Tom was full of praise for the fans who have been out and bought the album and for those who took the time to review the album he wrote, "More than anything, I'm just proud. Read pretty much every review on iTunes. Makes me feel warm inside knowing we've made an album you all like. That's all I give a shit about. You guys are all that matter. If you're happy...I'm ecstatic!!" The Enemy have a loyal following and Tom, Liam and Andy have always appreciated that support, which has been seen clearly by fans throughout the year. The lads have taken time to interact with followers on Twitter, Facebook and out on the streets. Now the hard work of producing an album to be proud of, Tom had these closing remarks, "This album really is for you, it's yours, not ours. Enjoy it, and we'll see you in the academy's and venues up and down the country! Liverpool, Southampton, Bristol, Newcastle, Aberdeen, Cardiff... Everywhere... Anywhere you want us... Thanks for buying the album, thanks for your unwavering support people. Quite simply, we love you."

The Enemy Edge Closer To Album Chart Top Spot

With the final sales day before the new UK album chart is released, The Enemy have been working flat out in a bid for the #1 spot. Tom Clarke was left virtually speechless after five nights performing around the UK, taking to the Fighting Talk, Big Day Out, Britannia Stadium in Stoke, he had to call on fans to help him out with the singing.

Fans have been buying 'Streets In The Sky' during the week, partly helped by Amazon doing the album for just £3.99 this week and HMV having the album displayed as you enter the store. Sales continued to rise during the week, giving The Enemy a midweek chart position #4.

Tom Clarke then tweeted yesterday (25/05/12) saying, "I've just been told the album is somewhere in the top ten at the moment! (amazing) BUT it's also on 3000 COPIES of being NUMBER ONE!!!!!..." Urging fans to tell their mates to buy a copy of the album, "Go and buy another copy and I'll come round and press play on your cd player personally!!! It's incredible that you lot have got the album so close!!! Just that final push if you wanna show."

Find out Sunday evening what chart position The Enemy's 'Streets In The Sky' achieves - whatever number, everyone will be proud to see a Coventry band back in the album charts. Fans have even set up a 'Let's Get The Enemy To Number' page on Facebook in an effort to spread the news.

The story has been covered on several websites, including NME.COM.
