The Enemy Forced To Cancel Gig

A string of gigs left The Enemy front man voiceless at the weekend, forcing Tom Clarke to announce the band would not be able to play their final Scottish date at Fat Sam's in Dundee. The gig has been rescheduled for Sunday 28th October, meaning it will now be the final gig for the 'Streets In The Sky' tour.

Tom Clarke gave a personally written apology to fans via his blog saying, "We've been playing the longest sets we've ever done to try to give everyone the show they've always wanted, but I'm gutted to tell you that the strain has taken its toll on my voice, and I've got to rest it for a couple of days for it to come back. As a result, the show tonight in Dundee is having to be rescheduled. It's especially gutting for us because coming up to Scotland to play to what we consider the best crowds in the world, is always what we look forward to most on a tour."

Tom went on to say, "I know that you were all looking forward to it too, we're so frustrated but there's no quick fix for a broken voice." Tom went on Twitter to answer fans questions on Sunday afternoon, with most offering words of support and 'get well soon' wishes. He was hoping to throw in a few extra songs at the rescheduled gig at the end of the month.

The tour has been a hit with fans, even though bassist Andy Hopkins might need to stock up on footwear after stage diving each night has left him without his trainers on more than one occasion. It was left to fellow band mate Liam Watts to carry him on his back from one of the Scottish gigs after fans nabbed Andy's footwear during his crowd surfing.

Tom Clarke is heading to the doctors on Monday and the rest of the tour should continue as planned, with Newcastle on Tuesday night and a string of English dates for the rest of the week. Tom concluded, "I HATE rescheduling a show. I really hate it, but sometimes it's unavoidable" as he spoke about the Dundee date.

The Enemy Streets In The Sky Tour Setlist

It's been a busy summer for The Enemy with several festivals (including T In The Park and V), a roof top Wembley Stadium FA Cup Final performance and a house move for Tom Clarke just ahead of the UK 'Streets In The Sky' Tour.

The tour kicks off at The Pier in the seaside town Weston-Super-Mare this Friday (September 28th) and will be touring the UK throughout October (tickets available from Ticketmaster and See Tickets) including two Midland dates at Leamington Spa on October 4th and Birmingham on October 26th. Tom Clarke and Andy Hopkins revealed the longest tour setlist so far to fans this week, with seven tracks from the new album 'Streets In The Sky'. Firm favourites also feature on the setlist, with 'We'll Live And Die In These Towns' and 'This Song' included.

Tom Clarke has spent this week in his new house after selling the farm, returning from the wilderness into a more normal surrounding. This didn't stop him popping along to Coventry's Godiva In The Square music festival on Sunday, as he showed his support for local music and also gave his mates from Dexters a lift up from London. The rain might have soaked those in attendance but it was good to know real guitar music is still alive and well in the UK.

Meanwhile Andy Hopkins and Liam Watts (top picture) have been keeping themselves busy before the tour begins - the pair have been getting the studio room project started and hopefully the tracks for the fourth album will be practiced in there over the coming months. The Enemy want to be able to help unsigned bands and the studio room could offer opportunities for up and coming bands. Midland band  The Antics will be supporting The Enemy throughout the 'Streets In The Sky' tour.

The Enemy Promise More UK Tour Dates

Scottish and Welsh fans will get to enjoy The Enemy on tour later this year as more dates are set to be added to the autumn tour that was revealed yesterday (08/06/12).

English fans will have fifteen gigs to choose from the end of September but the band will not be solely touring in England, Tom Clarke told Scottish fans, "there will be dates, we just can't announce them yet."  Speaking on his twitter page, Tom wanted Welsh fans not to miss out - saying he had, "spent all evening discussing dates in Wales, so fear not!" Back in 2009, The Enemy performed a gig at Cardiff University during the 'Music For The People' tour.

While no mention has been made about Irish dates yet, The Enemy will visit Belfast (Northern Ireland) for Belsonic  on August 20th . Tom, Liam and Andy performed several gigs in Ireland during 2009 - including Dublin, Cork, Galway, Limerick and Belfast.

The Enemy Planning Almighty Autumn Tour

As The Enemy celebrated 'Streets In The Sky' going Top 10 in the UK album charts on Sunday, Tom Clarke spoke about plans for an almighty autumn tour. Having just spent the week travelling up and down England and Scotland performing gigs and record signings, Tom was not aiming to rest up any time soon. "We'll be starting work on [album] number four soon, we're not going to keep you waiting around for Enemy albums again." The Enemy will be performing at several festivals during the summer months including T In The Park and V and other various events, such as Somerset House.

The mini tour last week and album launch has seen positive feedback from reviewers (read some reviews HERE) and The Enemy are inching for a tour to visit many more places throughout the UK. Details of the locations will be revealed over the coming months but Tom promises it will be "an almighty tour in the autumn."

Tom was full of praise for fans as he spoke on his blog about the album saying it, "wasn't done with mass marketing and huge major label budgets, it wasn't done by being played on radio one every minute, it was done the old fashioned way, pure fan power." Fans will be able to watch The Enemy performing during the closing sets for the Whitehaven Festival on Sunday 3rd June 2012.

Tom Clarke Shares Thoughts On Past Week

It has been a hectic week for Tom, Andy and Liam as The Enemy launched their new album 'Streets In The Sky'. Tom Clarke has updated his official blog and shared his thoughts with fans saying,"It's been a hell of a week, Coventry shows were awesome, Manchester was my favourite crowd I've ever seen! London was better than I have EVER seen it, and Glasgow almost bought a tear to my eye hearing you all singing on the way out of the Barrowlands."

The reviews and news about 'Streets In The Sky' has been positive, with the midweek chart predicting the album would enter at #4, then news came that the album was just 3,000 copies behind the #1 spot. Tom is keeping his feet on the ground about chart predictions with these wise words, "Whatever happens in the charts tomorrow, I really don't care! If it goes to number one, the feeling won't be a patch on the feeling you all gave us over the last few days. We always knew this album would be a struggle, and to be honest we always hoped it would get in the top ten, and if it does that then frankly the way the charts are now day, I'll still be well pleased."

Tom was full of praise for the fans who have been out and bought the album and for those who took the time to review the album he wrote, "More than anything, I'm just proud. Read pretty much every review on iTunes. Makes me feel warm inside knowing we've made an album you all like. That's all I give a shit about. You guys are all that matter. If you're happy...I'm ecstatic!!" The Enemy have a loyal following and Tom, Liam and Andy have always appreciated that support, which has been seen clearly by fans throughout the year. The lads have taken time to interact with followers on Twitter, Facebook and out on the streets. Now the hard work of producing an album to be proud of, Tom had these closing remarks, "This album really is for you, it's yours, not ours. Enjoy it, and we'll see you in the academy's and venues up and down the country! Liverpool, Southampton, Bristol, Newcastle, Aberdeen, Cardiff... Everywhere... Anywhere you want us... Thanks for buying the album, thanks for your unwavering support people. Quite simply, we love you."

The Enemy Forced To Change Coventry Gig Venues

The Enemy have been forced to change venues for their Coventry gigs next week and released this important message:

"We're sad to announce that because of noise restrictions imposed by Coventry Council and certain health and safety aspects, the sold out gigs on the 21st and 22nd of May will not be able to go ahead in the Ruins, and will be moved to another venue in Coventry.

We are absolutely devastated, just gutted. So much hard work has gone into trying to do something special for the people in Coventry. We absolutely adore our fans, especially our home fans, and we really wanted to put on the cathedral show as a way to say thank you for the support over the years. The noise restrictions and some red tape the council and cathedral have imposed mean that we’ll have to move the gig, at the eleventh hour, been left with no choice.

We don’t want to risk having to cancel the show on the morning if the council and the police decide not to grant a license. It’s not fair to the fans who’ve spent their hard earned on tickets.

So what’s going to happen?

The gig has been relocated to the Coventry Kasbah where we'll play a full set from the first, second and new third album. We’re going to play pretty much the whole of 'We’ll Live and Die', the singles off the second album, and a whole bunch of new stuff from 'Streets In The Sky'. It’s still the day of the album release and it will still be an amazing night!!!.

In addition, the fans will have some of the ticket price refunded. We’re just gutted about not being able to play the cathedral and we know the fans will be too, it was a pricey ticket because of the cathedral location and we think it’s only right to give you a chunk of money back.

So, whilst the cathedral has become impossible, we're still extremely excited to be playing the venue where we played our first gig, on the day we release the third album! The gigs will still be the 21st and the 22nd of May and promise to be an amazing night. Support will come from Reverend And The Makers and local band The Antics.

We’ll see you all there, we’re buzzing for the show, and the release of the album! We’re all mega proud of 'Streets In The Sky' and we’re not going to let a little hiccup like this slow us down! See you at the Kasbah!

Tom, Liam and Andy. x"

The Enemy Coventry Gigs Story In Observer

Local newspaper, the Coventry Observer carried the news that The Enemy are set for two massive gigs at the historic ruins of the old cathedral as they launch their third album. Here is Matthew Bates report:

"IT PROMISES to be one of our best gigs ever" - that's how The Enemy's Liam Watts described their summer gig at the cathedral ruins.
The band announced the two gigs at the city's landmark in May to coincide with the release of their third album, Streets in the Sky.
It comes just weeks after they were on stage in their home city in February to film the video for their latest single Gimme The Sign in nightclub Se7en.
Drummer Liam told the Observer: "It's different and a massive thing for us. The cathedral is the city's main landmark and we're really excited about it.
"I first went to the ruins on a school trip. You do appreciate it back then but when you get a bit older it feels more special.
"Hopefully it will be a memorable and special night. There aren't that many places to play in Coventry. There are smaller clubs, then the Ricoh and not a lot in between, but the cathedral offers that."
Liam added the album had been wrapped up with the latest single, Saturday, next in the pipeline.
"This is the happiest we've been for a while and the album is some of our best work yet. I can't wait till it's out there," he added.
"Whatever number it goes to in the charts, that will define it. But it's a different market now to what it was and there's lots of different stuff now.
"It's already a success to us but it's the fans that decide."
Frontman Tom Clarke described the gigs as momentous.
He wrote on his internet blog: "The cathedral is a stunning landmark which we've been asked about in interviews all over the world.
"We've wanted to put on a gig there since the first album, and after a lot of hard work, we're finally properly happy to announce it's going to go ahead."
Tickets for both shows - on Monday, May 21 and Tuesday, May 22 - went on sale through the band's website on Wednesday 4th April 2012 and via www.gigsandtours.com Thursday 5th April 2012.
